Maple Leafs confirmed for Fiji Sevens

The Canadian Maple Leafs squad is now the 7th international team to confirm their place in the Digicel Suva International 7's next month.

Suva Rugby Union Chairman, Vilikesa Rauca has confirmed that they have talked to the officials of the Canada 7's team who have agreed to be part of their tournament.

Canada will join Pool D with Samoa, Ratu Filise and the losing finalist of the Suva 7's leg in Labasa.

The Canadian Maple Leafs is a development squad for the Canadian Sevens team, featuring prospective new players across Canada.

Coach Morgan Williams will begin making player selections over the next two weeks. The Maple Leafs just went 2-2 at the Punta del Estes Sevens event in Uruguay over the weekend, winning both its pool matches before falling to Buenos Aries and then Italy in the Cup and Plate rounds respectively. The Uruguay trip was funded through the Canadian Rugby Foundation and donations from Canadian supporters.

Rauca adds they will now wait for the 3rd leg of the Suva 7's in the North to confirm another 2 places before they will decide the two wild card entries.

The Digicel Suva International 7's will start on the 21st to the 23rd of January.
